Decorative Bath Towels

Nothing makes a bathroom more complete and put-together than decorative bath towels. Decorative bath towels used liberally throughout the bathroom gives you a very finished look and serve a variety of purposes.

These days, decorative bath towels come in a wide array of custom colors. Use the decorative bath towels to contrast with your color scheme to provide a bright accent, or if you prefer things more subtle, you can choose decorative bath towels that compliment your décor. For instance, neutral decorative bath towels have more of a pastel nature – things like toasted almond, ivory cream, seascape, linen, powder blue, cobblestone, coral mist – you get the idea.

More of a jewel-tone type color fits the bill for contrast, like bronze, merlot, espresso, hot pink and electric blue. Because these towels are decorative in nature, you’ll want to display them. Many are made with various trims, embroidery including monogramming, and are elegantly designed. Arrange them on a towel rack according to what pleases you. If there’s a contrasting color in the trim, provide hand towels or washcloths that pick up that color or colors. Use that same principle in your bath rugs and shower curtain and any window treatment.

Some decorative bath towels have metallic thread and embellishments. These are for decorative purposes only, and shouldn’t be used for drying. It will ruin the integrity of the trim if you use it, and will lose its beauty.

There are many grades of quality from Egyptian cotton through regular cotton. Obviously the higher the quality the longer the color will last, and the softer and fluffier it will stay.

Some ideas -- have a rack with your decorative bath towels arranged in a pleasing way, but have on hand plenty of regular towels for use. A nice look would be to roll them up and put them in bins or baskets to have them readily available, or folded in stacks on a slim eterge. Again, mix and match them to have pops of color to make your bathroom warm and inviting. An interesting look might be, especially if your bathroom is all white, to have vibrant tropical colors in your towels and soft furnishings (such as your bath rugs, shower curtain, window treatments, etc). Follow the theme through with tropical décor accents like a jungle theme using those elements. For a child’s bathroom, you can use parrots or monkeys in very bright vibrant hues. Be sure to include fun elements like wastebaskets, toothbrush holder, cups, and the large bathroom towels that are made for kids that are readily available. For an adult bathroom, you can take the same theme but have it be exotic using animal prints, very textured things like raffia, basketry, and tribal type elements. If you have the room and a window, a potted palm would thrive in a bathroom to complete the room.

There are a myriad of styles, colors and quality to choose from with decorative bath towels, but be sure to have an abundance of towels on hand, as you don’t want your decorative towels being used by for every day purposes.
