Large bath towels are very popular. If you really want to personalize a towel, get yourself a large one that is completely unique, especially if you are living in a household with a lot of people. First of all, it’s very practical, especially if you’re in a hurry. You can not only dry your body, but your hair too. And if you’re a splasher, you have enough towel to swab up the floor. Really all you need is two large bath towels; one to do your bidding while the other one’s in the laundry. They’re even great for little children. Most kids like to take a bath, but for the ones that don’t you can roll them in the large bath towel like a pig in a blanket and make bath time fun.

I raised two boys and both of them loved their large bath towels and used it as a Superhero cape, which is another reason to have large bath towels on hand. When you have a sizable towel, maybe it’s a good idea to get it a little thinner with a loopy pile, as this will absorb water more quickly than a fluffier thicker one and will be mush easier to maneuver, especially for smaller people, kids and older people. Stock up on large bath towels during the summer months, especially as summer draws to a close, as you can get fabulous bargains on beach towels. These large towels aren’t usually decorative; they don’t hang on you towel rack because they’re just too darn big. So, get something that totally appeals to you that is uniquely your style. If everyone does this, they will be so partial to their own towel that there won’t be any mix-ups. A simple and fun way to store large bath towels is to roll them up and place them in a big basket or a shelf.

When you buy large bath towels, you will be able to tell the thickness and absorbency by the GSM (Gramps per square meter). A figure of 600 is good if you like a thick towel with longer loops that will make your large bath towel more absorbent. On the other hand, you may be looking for a thinner towel to keep the weight of it down, especially when it is wet. In that case, as long as your towel is 100% cotton, you can look for a lower GSM.

The top of the line with large bath towels these days is Egyptian cotton -- these have longer more fibrous threads and are more absorbent. They are thicker and plusher. The American equivalent to Egyptian cotton is Pima cotton; this has similar qualities and may be more affordable. Just make sure that the labels on the towels you buy are 100% Egyptian cotton or a 100% Pima cotton. Beware of labels that say "made with", as they can be only partially Egyptian or Pima cotton.
